The Pack is on the Move

If I was one to make New Year resolutions I think mine would be to have patience. And 2018 is a year that will require just that and more because for the Dog Hollow pack, it’s time to move. After 21 years of London, we are upping the brood and relocating to the countryside. Of course, with 10 dogs and a business to run, this is easier said than done, not only because we have to get our house looking suitably tidy to sell but we also have to get estate agents to understand the requirements of a larger than usual canine family. If TV needed another reality show, ours would be a rating hit, thinking Escape to the Country crossed with Desperate Dog wives with a bit of DIY SOS thrown in.
Selling our house, I hope will not be difficult, dare I say it but it’s pretty fabulous. However, finding another pad with the land needed for the dogs isn’t as simple. Estate agents on the whole seem to find the size of family hilarious but fail to understand the wording ‘no immediate neighbours and a couple of acres of private land”. The way I see it, you can change a house but not the land around it. I am not a fan of old houses with beams or cute kitchens but they can be modified, privacy cannot. The funny thing is we moved to our current house because a flat was no place for our German Shepherd, Scout, and once more we are moving to make our dogs happy. Except there are 10 this time. Actually, moving just for the dogs is not entirely true, I think to save my sanity is a bigger priority.  I shall keep you informed of our progress and the trials and tribulations that beset us en route.
2018 is not just a big change for me, for Nicky and Alison this year is one that both have looked forward to. For Nicky, the years of study for her BSc in Applied Animal Behaviour reaches its end and we are all looking forward to celebrating her graduation later in the year. And for Alison, after 13 years of wishing and praying will finally give her the Viszla she has coveted for so long. Watch out for the puppy diaries soon to be added to the Dog Hollow website!
